The tournament is being held at the University of British Columbia (UBC), in Vancouver, BC, Canada.


The VanCity Sports Club is humbled and honored to support two charities for this event. One is the Muslim Food Bank which operates nationally across Canada. The Muslim Food Bank is a faith and community based charitable organization that provides food assistance and advocates self-reliance by providing case management, emotional support, youth development and capacity building. 

The other charitable organization is Global Kindness Foundation founded by Dr. Hasnain R. Dewji and his wife, Fatemah. GKF is a Canadian-based registered charity, whose explicit aim is to sponsor dental, optical and medical missions worldwide. GKF has travelled to 9 different countries in over 40 trips and counting.


Check-in is located at 5959 Student Union Blvd. Vancouver, B.C. V6T 1K2. The location of the rooms will vary depending on the room type chosen. The hotel rooms are located walking distance to both the women’s (1-2 minute) and men’s (4-5 minutes) volleyball venues.

 

The women’s volleyball will be held at the Student Recreation Centre (SRC) at 6000 Student Union Blvd, Vancouver BC V6T 2E7. The SRC has a number of facilities including a yoga studio, dojo, weight training and three gymnasiums (on the 2nd floor) You can view the gym and all of the facilities in 360 degree view HERE.


The men’s volleyball will be held at the War Memorial Gym located at 6081 University Blvd., Vancouver, BC V6T 1Z1. You can view the gym in 360 degree view HERE.


Day 1 – May 23, 2025 – 10:30am to 11:00pm
Day 2 – May 24, 2025 – 8:30am to 11:00pm

Day 3 – May 25, 2025 – 8:30am to 6:00pm


Some seating will be available for ladies to watch the women’s volleyball games as well as there will be standing room around the courts.


Bleacher seating is available to watch the men’s volleyball games as well as there will be courtside standing room around the courts.


There are 4 courts for the men’s volleyball matches.


There are currently 3 courts planned for the women’s volleyball; however, there is the ability to expand this to 4 courts if required.


The closing ceremonies will be held on campus at a separate venue. The planned start time is 7:45pm and will end by Maghrib Salaat.


The closing ceremonies will be open to players, spectators and guests. Pre-registration for spectators and guests is required.


In addition to competitive matches throughout the tournament, athletes will be provided with delicious snacks, light breakfast on day 2 & 3 as well as lunch and dinner throughout the tournament including a closing ceremonies gala dinner. Furthermore, a portion of the registration fees will benefit the Muslim Food Bank and Global Kindness Foundation. Representatives from both organizations will be present to share their inspiring initiatives.


Yes, tea, coffee and water will be available for spectators on all three days. Snacks and meals will be available for the athletes throughout the tournament. Spectators will have the opportunity to purchase lunch and dinner during the tournament; a limited quantity will be available. The closing ceremonies dinner will be open for athletes and spectators; however, space is limited, and priority will be giving to athletes first. Spectators will be asked to preregister to attend the closing ceremonies gala dinner.


Yes, snacks and meals will be available for the athletes throughout the tournament. Spectators will have the opportunity to purchase lunch and dinner during the tournament; a limited quantity will be available.


The closing ceremonies dinner will be open for athletes and spectators; however, space is limited, and priority will be giving to athletes first. Spectators will be asked to preregister to attend the closing ceremonies gala dinner.


Only water is allowed in the gymnasiums. No other beverages or food is allowed in the bleachers or gym floors.

Yes, all spectators are welcome to book a room at the preferred pricing negotiated with UBC. If you are interested in booking a room, please email [email protected] to request a link for the room booking. Space is limited so book soon.


Payment can be made by credit card using a custom link which will be provided to each team. The link will default to either USD or CAD for North American teams based on where they are located. Payment is due 7 days after receipt of the confirmation letter that will be provided by the tournament organizers.


The organizing committee is planning to release the game schedule at least 1 week prior to the start of the tournament.


Yes, the men’s matches will be streamed online. More details will be provided closer to the tournament date.

Yes, there are halal option on campus as well as several options driving distance. Additionally, 3rd party delivery services will be able deliver to you on campus.


The VanCity Cup is planned to be the first of its kind volleyball tournament in North America. Athletes and spectators will be able to stay on campus within a short walking distance to the women’s and men’s gyms as well as the food venues.


No, neither smoking or vaping is allowed indoors in the gymnasiums, hotel or any other indoor facility at UBC. This law is strictly enforced and may be asked to leave the premises and potentially fined by the authorities.
